Gmail Introduces ‘Add to Calendar’ Feature Enhanced by Gemini AI

Guess what? Google just dropped a cool new trick for Gmail users, and it’s all about making your life easier with a little help from Gemini AI. Imagine this: you’re sifting through your inbox, and bam—there’s an email about a meeting. Instead of jumping through hoops to add it to your calendar, Gemini AI spots the deets and pops up an ‘Add to calendar’ button. Click it, and voilà, a side panel in Gmail lets you confirm and add the event to your Google Calendar. No fuss, no muss.

Now, before you get too excited, there are a couple of catches. First off, this gem is only up for grabs in English and on the web (sorry, app users). And hey, if your email’s about that fancy dinner reservation or your flight next week, this feature’s gonna sit this one out. Plus, it’s a solo act—no adding guests here.

Who gets to play with this? If you’re rocking Google Workspace Business or Enterprise, or you’ve got Gemini Education, Gemini Education Premium, or Google One AI Premium, you’re in luck. Even if you snagged the now-retired Gemini Business or Enterprise add-ons, you’re still on the guest list. And for the admins out there, flipping the switch on ‘smart features and personalization’ in the Workspace Admin console is your ticket to enabling this feature.

This is just the latest in Google’s streak of weaving Gemini AI into Gmail. Remember last June when they started helping you draft emails, sum up threads, and hunt down info in your inbox? Yeah, they’ve been busy. And they didn’t forget about mobile users—those features made their way to the Gmail apps for iOS and Android by the end of last year. Talk about keeping the party going.
