Dial Up ChatGPT: Now Accessible by Phone

Feeling lonely? OpenAI has introduced a new way to interact with ChatGPT—by phone. Users can now call 1-800-CHATGPT (242-8478), with a monthly limit of 15 minutes. Outside the US, chatting via WhatsApp is available using the same number.

Recently, OpenAI has been promoting voice and video interaction as a more natural way to engage with ChatGPT. Current app users can ask the virtual assistant questions with their cameras turned on.

This new phone feature seems aimed at expanding ChatGPT’s reach to those less familiar with tech, while maintaining that these calls won’t be used for training purposes.

The initiative is part of a larger campaign, ’12 Days of Shipmas’, where OpenAI is consistently unveiling new features, including significant tools like the Sora video generator. This recent announcement appears to be a mild promotional move rather than a major update.
