Roborock Unveils Robot Vacuum with Manipulator Capable of Picking Up Objects

At CES 2025, Roborock introduced its latest innovation, the Saros Z70 robot vacuum, equipped with a manipulator arm called OmniGrip. Positioned as a competitor to iRobot’s products, Roborock believes this advancement represents a new era for robot vacuums. The Saros Z70 is set to launch on February 10, priced at $1,600.

The five-axis robotic arm extends from the top of the vacuum, allowing it to rotate and remove obstacles in its path while lifting objects weighing up to 300 grams.

The vacuum operates in two stages: it performs standard cleaning first and then revisits areas to interact with objects as needed. The OmniGrip arm features an integrated camera and sensors to navigate and identify its surroundings.

“The Roborock app will play a crucial role in OmniGrip’s functionality,” the company stated. “The manipulator will be disabled by default, and users can activate it through the app, which allows customization of its settings.”

Through the app, users can specify which objects OmniGrip should interact with and where the robot should place them. Additional features include child-lock protection and a safety stop button, which can instantly disable the device.

In related news, a Waymo robotaxi and a Serve Robotics delivery bot recently collided in Los Angeles, an incident captured on video. Representatives from both companies confirmed ongoing efforts to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
