YouTube’s finally rolled out its AI-powered auto dubbing tool—yeah, the one they teased us with a year and a half ago. Now, it’s up and running for hundreds of thousands of educational and informational channels in the YouTube Partner Program. And guess what? They’re planning to spread the love even wider soon.

Creators can now magically transform their English videos into French, German, Hindi, and a bunch of other languages (or vice versa). The best part? You get to peek at how your video sounds in another language before hitting publish. It’s like trying on clothes before buying them, but for your content.

Head over to the ‘languages’ section in YouTube Studio, and you’ll spot these auto-dubbed gems, all neatly labeled. YouTube’s even thrown in some examples—like a French video turned English and an English one with multiple language options. But fair warning: while the translations are spot-on, they’ve got that telltale AI vibe (a bit robotic, if you ask me). A buddy of mine who checked out the French version said the same thing.

Oh, and here’s the kicker: YouTube’s examples are all about dubbing over narration, not people chatting back and forth. Probably because AI still gets tripped up by fast talkers or when everyone decides to speak at once. YouTube’s upfront about this being early days, so don’t expect perfection—yet.
