ChatGPT Now Accessible on WhatsApp

ChatGPT expands its reach by becoming available on WhatsApp. Users can easily connect by adding 1 (800) CHAT-GPT to their contacts and enjoy chatbot interactions through text-only features.

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT on WhatsApp, allowing users to interact by adding the contact number 1 (800) CHAT-GPT, or 1 (800) 242-8478. This version supports text-only inputs, so Advanced Voice Mode and visual functionalities are currently absent. The chatbot’s o1-mini model is still smart and available globally through WhatsApp without requiring a user account.

While OpenAI plans to implement user authentication through WhatsApp, no timeline is provided. Simultaneously, a ChatGPT hotline is available in the US at the same number, enabling calls from any phone type. The hotline offers 15 minutes of free usage, with the option to log in for more.

According to Kevin Weil, OpenAI’s chief product officer, these developments aim to make ChatGPT more accessible, inspired by a recent company hack week. The 12 Days of OpenAI event also revealed ChatGPT Search for free users and public access to the Sora video generation tool.
